Putting the “Who” in Mission

Mission success in government intelligence requires a synergy of humans and machines, each contributing what they do best. Central to this process is discovering the “who”: people, organizations, and geo-political entities, where modern AI has come into its own in accuracy and performance. From there, the humans are ready to take over, adding the capabilities and intentions, but it starts with the “who.” Each works to its strengths: artificial intelligence analyzes text and determines which name in a text matches which real-life entity, cueing humans to do the rest. Today, production-ready AI is in the field working across human languages to automatically and reliably find names from volumes of raw intelligence, matching them to identities. We will work through some examples of reasonable expectation for today’s machine intelligence, integrated with the human role in completing the mission story.
